THTR 101 - Stand-Up Comedy

Description
An introductory course focusing on writing and solo performance of comedic work. Students will witness contemporary stand-up comics, study the psychological effects of comedy, and develop their own unique comedic writing and performance style that will culminate in performances.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Distinguish the psychological effects of comedic writing and comedic situations.
  2. Demonstrate and evaluate human behavior in stressful and comedic situations.
  3. Write comedic monologues and scenes.
  4. Perform solo comedic monologues.
  5. Conduct self-evaluation as a primary means for improvement.
