PSC 270 - Politics Through Film

Description
This course will explore various political issues and themes through the viewing and analysis of major motion pictures. The course will examine how films influence our politics and culture and how films are influenced by direct and indirect government actions and how film reflects and responds to changes in society.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Apply theoretical concepts from political science to the analysis of political films.
  2. Identify connections between Hollywood films and real-world political events and institutions.
  3. Evaluate the influence of film on American political culture (& political culture has on film).
  4. Analyze how films help us empathize with different types of people and groups and how this relates to various writings in the field of political science, political theory, and social science.
