Description
Explore the technical elements of entertainment lighting including fixtures, cables, effect units, electricity, dimmers, control consoles, and safety. Learn the fundamentals of lighting paperwork and its application for planning successful lighting installs in entertainment.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify the basic elements of electricity, circuitry, and physics of light applied to entertainment practices, terms, and equipment used.
  2. Demonstrate lighting hang and focus techniques according to light plots and paperwork information.
  3. Demonstrate use of lighting control consoles and other equipment used by stage lighting technicians and board operators.
  4. Communicate information from light plots, paperwork, and drafting to electricians, designers, and managers.
  5. Identify organizational plans and job roles for lighting positions within arts organization.
