DESCRIPTION

This degree prepares students for employment in the electrical power production and transmission industry.  The core of the degree provides a sound basis of mechanical technology, electrical theory, and automation control.  There are also a number of electives that allow students to focus on electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or plant/facility operation in the power utility industry.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Follow guidelines for safe operation and maintenance of various mechanical, electrical, and fluid power systems used in the power utility industry.
  2. Explain and show the skills to design and operate basic electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems and to use industrial automation devices such as programmable logic controller devices to monitor their operation and performance.
  3. Apply various troubleshooting techniques for identification and correction of faults in electrical circuits, mechanical and high pressure fluid power systems, and control systems used in the power utility industry.
  4. Utilize knowledge and skills in mathematics, written and oral communication, and teamwork.
