Heavy Duty Repairman, AAS

RESTRICTED ENTRY PROGRAM

Students MUST be indentured in the Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program before enrolling in classes. Special consideration will be given students who complete the Operating Engineers Associate of Applied Science if they are affected by the retroactive six year rule. DESCRIPTION

This degree prepares the student for employment as a Journeymen Heavy Duty Repairman with the Operating Engineers Union.  Along with special program courses, academic skill emphasizing related math, science, and human relations components are stressed to prepare students to meet the challenges common in the work place.


 

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Comprehend and utilize all applicable heavy duty repairman tools.
  2. Comprehend and utilize formulas used in the calculations of all phases of heavy duty repair work.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair any problems that arise in heavy duty repair work.

General Education Requirements


TOTAL GENERAL EDUCATION CREDITS: 25

NOTE: Your first college-level MATH course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Special Program Requirements


TOTAL SPECIAL PROGRAM CREDITS: 35


Any OPE journeyman course offered for credit may be substituted for any of the above OPE apprentice courses. Please contact the program coordinator for more details.
