RESTRICTED ENTRY PROGRAM

Students MUST be indentured in the Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program before enrolling in classes. Special consideration will be given students who complete the Operating Engineers Associate of Applied Science if they are affected by the retroactive six year rule. DESCRIPTION

This degree prepares students for employment as a Machinist with the Operating Engineers Union.  Along with special program courses, academic skills emphasizing math, science, and human relations are stressed to prepare students to meet the challenges common in the work place.


 

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Comprehend and utilize all applicable machinists’ tools.
  2. Comprehend and utilize formulas used in the calculations of all phases of machinists’ work.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair any problems that arise in machinists’ work.

General Education Requirements


TOTAL GENERAL EDUCATION CREDITS: 30


 

Mathematics (3 Credits)


NOTE: Your first college-level MATH course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Natural Science (5 Credits)


Special Program Requirements


TOTAL SPECIAL PROGRAM CREDITS: 30


Any OPE journeyman course offered for credit may be substituted for any of the above OPE apprentice courses. Please contact the program coordinator for more details.
