ADMITTANCE INFORMATION

Admittance into this Bachelor of Applied Science requires completion of the CSN AAS Environmental Management degree or program director approval.


DESCRIPTION

This BAS program has a technician emphasis in Environmental Laboratory Sciences that provides a distinctive baccalaureate degree pathway for students who receive department approval to declare the BAS or have completed an associate degree in a similar or related field from an accredited institution and receive department approval.  This degree furthers the AAS-EM technician level knowledge so that a graduate should be able to further their environmental laboratory technician skills.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Summarize federal, county, state, and tribal policies driving environmental quality policies.
  2. Recall USEPA Quality Control principles and technology to analyze all matrix.
  3. Recommend laboratory techniques and methods to analyze environmental matrix.
  4. Evaluate biochemical, inorganic, and organic data to inform and make decisions regarding data quality.
  5. Categorize all waste streams as a result of laboratory processes.
  6. Select Best Management Practice (BMP) and scientific strategies for managing of laboratory work-flow.
  7. Prepare management actions plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and reports. 
  8. Show leadership skills within the environmental laboratory sciences fields.

REQUIRED: Your first college-level ENG course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Lower Division Elective (2-4 Credits)


Students who complete CEE 121 (2 credits) or GEOL 220 (4 credits) DO NOT need to complete the Digital Literacy Elective. Students who wish to complete GIS 109 MUST complete the Digital Literacy Elective as it is the prerequisite to GIS 109.

Digital Literacy Elective (0-3 Credits)


Students only need to complete this elective if they wish to complete GIS 109 to satisfy the elective requirement (2-4 credits) above. The Digital Literacy Elective is the prerequisite for admittance into GIS 109.
