MTT 292 - Computer Aided Manufacturing I

Description
Designed for students who have CADD experience and are interested in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Introduction to MasterCAM’s programming software package for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) part programming. Topics include CNC concepts, machine axis, tooling, programming formats, manufacturing process, CAM, mill programming, lathe programming, program editing, speeds, feeds, and machine shop safety.

Student Learning Outcomes
1. Recognize the basic functions of G-Codes for CNC operations.
2. Program G-Code for a basic machined part utilizing the CNC Control Simulator input mode.
3. Create G-Codes from a CAD model utilizing MasterCAM’s software.
4. Run models through simulation using MasterCAM and machine Control Simulation panel.
5. Analyze and edit G-Code for production efficiency.
Prerequisite: CADD 140  and MTT 140 ; and either CADD 200  or CADD 245
