MT 115B - Industrial & Materials Handling Automation Credits: 3 Description Presents the principle of Programming Logic Controllers (PLCs), sensors, and DC/AC drives for motor control. Emphasis placed on troubleshooting and maintaining PLC control systems. Students in this course should have a basic understanding of computers and networking.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Create a working ladder logic program and be able to download the program to a PLC.
- Identify major hardware parts of PLC systems and how they are used together.
- Wire input and output devices to a Micro PLC system and troubleshoot and debug the industrial application.
- Differentiate motor control systems utilized in the industry: DC drives, AC drives, stepper motor drives, and servo drives.
- Use numbering systems, digital logic and Boolean algebra in the design and analysis of ladder logic circuits.
- Develop positive attitudes toward work, and cooperation and teamwork with others.
