AIT 281 - ICS & SCADA Security Essentials

Description
Provides a foundational set of standardized skills and knowledge for industrial cybersecurity professionals in securing the systems that connect industrial controllers. The course is designed to ensure that the workforce involved in supporting and defending industrial control systems are trained to keep the operational environment safe, secure, and resilient against current and emerging cyber threats. With the dynamic nature of industrial control systems, this course prepares engineers to understand the features and risks of many devices, controllers, and how to secure these devices and systems throughout the environment. The focus of this material is designed to help traditional IT personnel fully understand the design principles in securing the underlying control systems as well as how to support those systems in a manner that ensures availability and integrity.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Classify methods to safely gather information about an ICS environment.
  2. Evaluate vulnerabilities in ICS environments.
  3. Explain how attackers can maliciously interrupt and control processes.
  4. Recommend proactive measures to mitigate attacks.
  5. Generalize normal ICS operations.
