Description
Advanced laboratory applications in chemical analysis of blood, urine, and other body fluids in normal and abnormal physiological conditions.  Analysis of specimens using manual, semi-automated and automated clinical laboratory instrumentation, including quality control and troubleshooting strategies.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain appropriate patient preparation, specimen collection and processing, for assays performed in Clinical Chemistry laboratory.
  2. Evaluate quality control data to determine acceptability.
  3. Evaluate patient data to determine the clinical significance of normal and abnormal Clinical Chemistry values.
  4. Perform manual, semi-automated and/or automated analytical techniques to obtain patient and/or quality control data.
  5. Perform mathematical and statistical calculations.

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the BAS Medical Laboratory Scientist program or Program Director approval
