CLS 491 - Clinical Practicum - Chemistry

Description
Clinical rotation in Clinical Chemistry. Designed to gain applied experiences and develop entry-level competencies as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.  Clinical experience may include up to 100% clinical simulation.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Follow safety regulations and institutional safety procedures.
  2. Perform maintenance and quality control testing using the institutional standard operating procedures.
  3. Evaluate quality control data to determine acceptability of patient results.
  4. Perform clinical chemistry testing using institutional standard operating procedures.
  5. Recognize clerical and technical errors and take corrective action.
  6. Correlate patient results with health or disease states.
  7. Exhibit professionalism with individuals and teams in the clinical laboratory setting.

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the BAS Medical Laboratory Scientist program or Program Director approval
