CLS 491 - Clinical Practicum - Chemistry Credits: 4 Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring Campus/Sites Offered: Off-campus Offering Note: Off-campus at clinical sites.
Description Clinical rotation in Clinical Chemistry. Designed to gain applied experiences and develop entry-level competencies as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Clinical experience may include up to 100% clinical simulation.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Follow safety regulations and institutional safety procedures.
- Perform maintenance and quality control testing using the institutional standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate quality control data to determine acceptability of patient results.
- Perform clinical chemistry testing using institutional standard operating procedures.
- Recognize clerical and technical errors and take corrective action.
- Correlate patient results with health or disease states.
- Exhibit professionalism with individuals and teams in the clinical laboratory setting.
