CRS 316 - Neonatal and Pediatric Cardiorespiratory Care Credits: 3 Description Emphasizes cardiorespiratory pathophysiology of the pediatric/neonatal patient. Introduction and advanced pediatric/neonatal concepts developed in context of clinical practice guidelines, therapist driven protocols and critical pathways.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain embryologic and postnatal development of the cardiopulmonary systems.
- Differentiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the neonatal and pediatric patient.
- Recommend appropriate respiratory care treatment modalities and modify as needed.
- List and describe common neonatal and pediatric disease states and conditions.
- Summarize concepts of mechanical ventilation as applied to the neonatal and pediatric patient.
- Prepare for the Perinatal/Pediatric Specialty Examination given by the NBRC.
