FREN 211 - Second Year French I Credits: 3 Description Continuation of French language skills and intensive reviews of grammatical structures, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through an introduction to French literary readings.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Speak French with greater fluency and increased confidence.
- Understand spoken and written French with greater facility.
- Read and analyze a literary text at the intermediate level of difficulty.
- Write French with greater clarity, precision, style, and grammatical accuracy.
- Learn to utilize a wider range of grammatical structures.
- Gain an understanding of the geography, history, and literature of France and other Francophone countries.
- Increase their active vocabulary to 1,500 words and their passive vocabulary to 2,000 words.
- Write a 5-8 page well-organized essay in French on a Francophone topic utilizing the vocabulary and grammar of this course.
- Hold a 10-minute speech utilizing the structures and vocabulary learned in this course.
Prerequisite: FREN 112 or equivalent Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
