FUNS 234L - Funeral Directing Lab Experience

Description
This course provides hands-on experience with funeral arrangement conferences and the processes and procedures in coordination with course FUNS 234 Funeral Directing. Emphasis is on the ethical and professional communication needed when working with families of the deceased. Students in this class will be expected to evaluate, critique as well as assist one another in simulated funeral arrangement conferences. Field Trips may be required. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Work with the equipment and tools common to funeral service.
  2. Complete an arrangement conference and all associated documents.
  3. Carry out the process of completing a first call.
  4. Dress professionally and act with a professional demeanor.
  5. Evaluate the steps and procedures for a first call, arrangement conference, follow-up decisions, documentation and forms completed.
  6. Justify how the steps, type of forms completed, and professional demeanor address the ethical treatment of a decedent and their family.
  7. Generate an arrangement conference folder including all documentation and required forms.
