FUNS 287 - Funeral Service Practicum II-Embalming

Description
This course will utilize the theories, knowledge, and skills taught within the funeral service program of studies and apply them in a real-world setting in one or more local funeral home establishments. Pre-approved off-campus preceptors provide direct supervision of students who will be required to participate primarily through active participation. This session focuses principally on embalming, restorative arts, and the associated sciences. Preceptors for this course are not approved to provide training in the arts aspects of funeral service. 

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Utilize industry specific vocabulary associated with funeral service.
  2. Explain laws, regulations, guidelines and protocols for the funeral industry.
  3. Utilize tools, documents, and complete forms needed for funeral services.
  4. Explain the varied roles, responsibilities, and limitations of funeral professionals.
  5. Complete a variety of tasks routinely required of funeral service personnel.
  6. Use ethical decision-making required of a funeral service professional.
