PSC 201 - Politics of Minority Groups

1. Articulate and analyze the history of minority politics in the U.S.
2. Articulate and analyze the political theory behind the so-called “Madisonian Dilemma,” namely how to balance the will of the majority with the rights and liberties of minority groups in the context of a constitutional democracy.
3. Analyze the experiences of such minority groups as the LGBTQ community, African Americans, Native Americans, and Latinos with regard to the American political process.
4. Explore the role of the national, state, and local governments within the U.S. with regard to minority politics.
5. Analyze the role of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches at the national, state, and local levels regarding minority politics.
