Description
Survey course designed to trace the development of the U.S. Air Force air and space power through a historical prism. Begins with the study of early flight and concludes with the Korean conflict. Special emphasis is placed on the evolving nature of Air Force capabilities, functions and doctrine.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students will understand the definition of air and space power and the components that describe it forming the history of the USAF.
Students will understand the significance of airpower prior to and during WWI, the interwar years in both the European and Pacific theaters during WWII, and the Korean War.
Students will understand the establishment of the Air Force as an independent force.
Students will be able to recognize the technological advances that lead up to the U.S./Soviet cold war.
Students will understand the importance of the Strategic Air Command and the development of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles as a weapon.
