Description
This course will provide a general overview of the hazardous materials management industry, with emphasis on hazardous materials, hazardous waste, laws and regulations, and its effects on the environment and worker health and safety.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Distinguish the appropriate laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
- Recognize the potential hazards associated with the use and handling of of hazardous materials.
- Identify the appropriate terms common to hazardous material management.
- Describe the adverse effect of hazardous materials on the human body and the environment.
- Explain safe handling techniques for selected hazardous materials.
- Develop methods and technologies used to prevent pollution and minimize the generation of hazardous waste.
