Provides knowledge of the interrelationship between addiction and trauma. Covers diagnostic criteria and includes experiential roleplay and practice in counseling skills.

Identify the signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Identify the signs and symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD).
Identify similarities and differences between PTSD and ASD.
Identify similarities and differences between PTSD, ASD, and Substance Abuse.
Identify treatment approached relative to substance abuse and trauma.
Describe the diagnostic criteria for Substance Abuse and the various trauma categories.
Demonstrate familiarity with counseling approaches and techniques appropriate for persons presenting with addiction and trauma.
