Description
Advanced study of periodontology with special emphasis on new surgical modalities and equipment. Orientation to all aspects of periodontal practice.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify current antibiotics and their role in the treatment of periodontal disease.
  2. Describe the technique for delivery of controlled-released antibiotics.
  3. Understand the rationale and describe the various periodontal surgeries.
  4. Recognize periodontal plastic surgery procedures.
  5. Define periodontal regeneration.
  6. Define guided tissue regeneration and describe the surgical procedure.
  7. Understand the concept of periodontal maintenance.
  8. Define the role of the RDH in a periodontal maintenance.
