Description
Identification and analysis of key elements of dramatic structure and text analysis necessary for theatrical realization from the point of view of the playwright, director, actor, and designer using plays from a variety of genres.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify terminology of play structure and text analysis using dramatic literature from a variety of periods.
  2. Recognize and distinguish themes, style and structure of dramatic literature.
  3. Illustrate the use of text analysis from a variety of roles within the theatre.
  4. Analyze individual works in relation to other works of the period and in relation to contemporary thought.
  5. Conduct written evaluation of textual analysis as a primary means for improvement.
