Description
A survey of the United States, national, state and local governments with emphasis on the cultural aspects of the governing process. (Satisfies the legislative requirement for the United States and Nevada Constitutions.)

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Analyze the fundamental principles upon which both the federal and state governments are based.
  2. Compare the organizational structure and responsibilities of each branch of government at the federal and state levels.
  3. Evaluate the civil rights and liberties guaranteed by the U.S. and Nevada Constitutions.
  4. Explain how the formal and informal institutions of American government interact to produce public policy.
  5. Explain American and Nevada political culture and how those cultures shape American and Nevadan politics.
