THTR 100 - Introduction to Theatre Credits: 3 Description Explores theatre as a cultural attribute of world society. Special focus on theatre as an expression of culture, a representation of international themes, and its contribution to the development of civilization.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Apply theatre history, vocabulary, cultural literacy, diversity, world history to textual studies, lecture presentations, and group discussions.
- Match key figures, movements, terminology, and personnel with their functions in the creation of theatrical productions.
- Establish critical judgment and the ability to articulate a critical response towards art and literature.
- Discuss dramatic literature through an enhanced appreciation of structural elements such as plot, character, theme and language.
- Review the role of theatre as literature through exposure to a representative body of dramatic and culturally diverse literature in performance.
- Develop an appreciation of the collaborative and multidisciplinary nature of theatre arts and artists.
