ABDY 110B - Paint and Refinish I Credits: 4 Description This course provides instruction in all phases of metal preparation: sanding, masking, metal treatment, priming, as well as spraying basecoat and clear coat and the proper use and maintenance of paint guns.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify a given vehicle, make, model, and year.
- Properly interpret SPO Label and identify paint type.
- Properly identify substrate.
- Identify paint codes, obtain the proper paint numbers.
- Utilize mixing scales properly.
- From the formula sheet determine the proper mixing colors from the mixing bank; mix the proper amount of paint for the vehicle.
- Spray assigned and prepped panel to match assigned vehicle.
- Properly match car “color, texture, and gloss”.
- Prep panel for paint.
- Utilize safety and personal protective equipment.
- Perform proper procedures in polishing, buffing, cutting, and finish sanding.
- Pass the associated I-CAR certifications.
