FREN 103 - First Year Business French I Credits: 4 Description A course that deals intensively with French business practices and French business language intended for students who encounter French-speaking clients in various professional situations.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Learn basic French business language and vocabulary
- Become familiar with the cultural differences in the transaction of business in such areas as telephone etiquette, small talk, and gestures.
- Focus on business correspondence such as writing a business letter, intra-office communications (memos, telephone notes, faxes, email, contracts, resumes, bills, etc.)
- Confirm reservations for hotels, airlines, restaurants, etc.
- Establish contact with clients.
- Open a French bank account.
- Promote their place of employment in form of advertisements.
- Understand a medical prescription.
- Interview and be interviewed for a job in French.
