FT 190 - Fire Instructor Credits: 3 Description Topics included are the role of the instructor, preparing instructional objectives, communication skills, use of visual aids, and practice teaching techniques. Meets NFPA Standard 1041, Fire Instructor Training. Those completing the course will be certified as Fire Instructor I by the Nevada State Fire Marshal.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify, from memory, and use the four-step method to instruction as identified in NFPA standard 104, Fire Service Instructor.
- Given a topic, identify the audience and apply activities identified as preparatory in nature.
- Given a topic, identify the methods and aids appropriate to make a presentation for fire service personnel.
- Produce a multimedia presentation given a PowerPoint computer program and fire service related topic.
- Given an appropriate topic, prepare or systematize a skill checklist appropriate to conduct a safe skills activity for application.
- Given a skills checklist on an appropriate topic in the fire service, convert into a valid performance evaluation a written evaluation or test.
Prerequisite: FT 101 and FT 104 ; or Instructor approval
