OPHT 160B - Clinical Applications I Credits: 3 Description Introductory clinical experience designed to apply skills acquired in previous course work. Experience designed to give the student an introduction to, and observation of, the ophthalmic office/hospital setting.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Summarize participation in at least four ophthalmic grand round discussions.
- Summarize participation in at least four ophthalmic grand round discussions.
- Complete a patient history write up using the forms and procedures of the given clinical site.
- Create at least five case studies based on patient scenarios encountered during clinical rotation. Case studies are to be designed as training protocol for future students prior to participating in a clinical rotation.
- Prepare and present a power point presentation to their peers outlining one of the patient scenarios that they encountered during their clinical rotation.
- Scribe for a physician during the examination process.
- Compare and contrast at least four ophthalmic grand round discussions.
- Instill/apply eye drops and ointments under the direction of a licensed COMT physician, or Nurse.
