RDTP 232B - Clinical Practicum III Credits: 3 Description Continuation of Clinical Applications II where the student will take the competencies learned in the lab and apply them to actual patients in the clinic. The student responsibilities increase as more complicated competencies are introduced in patient treatments set-ups.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Understand medical terminology language used in the treatment of cancer patients.
- Demonstrate the correct ways of constructing immobilization devices for patients.
- Assist the instructor in proper set up techniques such as triangulation, depth, SSD, and laser alignments on the patient.
- List the sequence of events in setting up the patient for treatment from identification of the patient through the signing of the consent form.
- Complete five (5) complex competencies that will be required for graduation.
- Explain to patient what side effects they will encounter throughout their treatment and be able to help manage them.
- Understand more complicated field arrangements by introducing 3 and 4 field techniques into their competencies.
- Demonstrate advanced set ups on both the linear accelerator and simulator machine.
