Develops essential spelling skills. Emphasis is on learning, practice and retention of basic spelling rules.

Student Learning Outcomes

Know thirteen rules for improving their spelling.
Know ways to create mnemonic devices.
Know how to spell at least fifty percent more words than they did at the beginning of the semester.
Demonstrate via weekly, mid-semester, and final tests that their spelling is improving.
Use electronic media to aid instruction.
Demonstrate on a post-test significant improvement when compared with a pre-test.
Gain the ability to proofread and edit.
