SON 210B - Abdominal Sonography I Credits: 3 Description Focuses on the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the abdominal organs that can be visualized with ultrasound.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Describe the origin and course of the abdominal vessels.
- Describe the various Doppler waveforms of specific abdominal organs.
- Differentiate between sonographic appearances by explaining the clinical significance of pathological processes of specific vascular diseases.
- Explain the appearance, frequency and significance of congenital anomalies of the liver and gallbladder.
- Select the pertinent laboratory tests and explain the significance of abnormal lab results pertaining to the liver and gallbladder.
- Differentiate between sonographic appearances of normal anatomy and pathological disease processes of the liver and gallbladder.
- Describe the internal, surface, cross-sectional and relational anatomy of the pancreas.
- Select the pertinent laboratory tests and explain the use of these tests in evaluating the function of the pancreas.
- Differentiate between sonographic appearances by explaining the clinical significance of specific pathological processes related to the pancreas.
- Describe the internal, surface, cross-sectional and relational anatomy of the renal and adrenal gland.
- Select the pertinent laboratory tests and explain the use of these tests in evaluating the function of the kidneys and adrenal glands.
- Different between sonographic appearances by explaining the clinical significance of specific pathological processes related to the kidneys and adrenal glands.
