Description
Focuses on the anatomy, physiology and pathology of pregnancy with emphasis on first trimester pregnancy and complications of first trimester obstetrics. Normal sonographic obstetrical measurements and sonographic appearance of first, second and third trimester pregnancy will also be covered.

Student Learning Outcomes

Describe the procedures for the dating and clinical staging of pregnancy including pertinent lab tests.
Be able to define normal and abnormal ranges of results for all laboratory tests done in the first trimester.
List the clinical problems that are typical reasons for the sonographic evaluation of first trimester pregnancy.
Describe the clinical symptoms and pathologic basis for complications of the first trimester pregnancy.
Discuss the conditions that can cause maternal pelvic masses or complications during pregnancy and identify them on sonograms.
Identify the abnormal first trimester pregnancy on ultrasound exams and be able to give differential diagnosis for each abnormality.
Identify scanning planes used for obstetrical measurements and identify correct fetal measurements.
