ADMITTANCE INFORMATION

Admittance into the Bachelor of Applied Science program will require a minimum of an associate degree in fire science or a closely related field. Those seeking entry into the program without a closely related associate degree will have their coursework reviewed for admittance. 


DESCRIPTION

This BAS degree is intended for students who wish to develop their managerial skills and further compliment the technical skills they have already acquired at the AAS degree level. The BAS will open up career pathways and promotional opportunities beyond what an AAS degree will provide. Students will complete additional coursework that has been approved by Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) model curriculum. The BAS degree will be granted to students who have successfully completed an AAS degree in Fire Science or a closely related field from a regionally accredited community college and matriculate to complete the core and non-core courses recommended by FESHE.

  1. Evaluate community risk reduction methods related to the fire service.
  2. Assess effective leadership programs in public administration.
  3. Appraise business strategies involving personnel, fiscal management, legal, and administrative practices related to the fire service.
  4. Create and evaluate policy, plans, and procedures to support emergency services administration.
