DESCRIPTION
The Tourism, Convention and Event Planning degree is designed to provide exciting career opportunities and produce professionals who want to work in the Tourism, Convention, and Event Planning industries. Students will be prepared to enter management training positions and, for those presently employed, to assume managerial responsibility.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Evaluate criteria of different types of conventions, meetings and events within hospitality/tourism industries.
  2. Create a meeting/event from inception to completion using the components of tourism.
  3. Optimize oral and written communication skills in working with clients, colleagues, and vendors around the world.
  4. Enhance customer service and relationship skills in a multicultural and global society.

General Education Requirements


TOTAL GENERAL EDUCATION CREDITS: 22


300-level and above courses cannot be used to satisfy GE requirements.

Mathematics (3 Credits)


NOTE: Your first college-level MATH course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: Students wishing to move on to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Tourism, Convention and Event Planning MUST complete MATH 120 or MATH 120E or above (except MATH 122 and MATH 123).

English Composition (3-5 Credits)


NOTE: Your first college-level ENG course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Fine Arts/Humanities/Social Sciences (3 Credits)


Major Requirements


TOTAL MAJOR REQUIREMENTS CREDITS: 39


Grades of D+, D, and D- in the major requirements (occupational) area in an Associate of Applied Science degree program will not count toward graduation requirements.
