CSN BS Dental Hygiene Map



WHO SHOULD USE THIS ACADEMIC MAP
This academic map should be used by CSN students who have been accepted into the Dental Hygiene, BS .
 
HOW THIS ACADEMIC MAP IS SET UP
The academic map is set up to show students the ideal path to completing the degree in five (5) semesters. Students who cannot take the map’s recommended number of credits each semester will take longer to complete the degree and graduate.
 
CSN BS DENTAL HYGIENE: DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene degree is the entry-level program that prepares graduates to become licensed prevention specialists in the dental health team providing health education, administering local anesthesia, removing deposits and stains from teeth, exposing x-rays, and applying topical fluoride.  The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for enhanced roles and responsibilities of dental hygienists in public health, education, administration, research, management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
 
Student Note: Prior to Semester #1.  Apply to the Dental Hygiene program and receive approval from the program director to enter the program. The A.S. Dental Science degree MUST be completed before the start of the first semester of the B.S. Dental Hygiene Program.  A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required to graduate.
