LIMITED ENTRY PROGRAM

This is a limited-entry program. Some of these courses are program prerequisites and MUST be completed before a student is considered eligible for entry into the Program. Students MUST attend a Health Programs orientation and meet with a Health Programs advisor for additional advisement.


DESCRIPTION

The Radiation Therapy Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares graduates to work with the Radiation Oncologist in delivering daily doses of ionizing radiation for cancer treatment. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National examination for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification in Radiation Therapy.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Demonstrate clinical competence in the following skill sets. Head & Neck, Breast, Gastrointestinal, Lung, Gynecologic, Genitourinary and extremity set-ups.
  2. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, physicist, radiation therapy and other members of the treatment team.
  3. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively set up and deliver the radiation treatment.
  4. Obtain qualifications to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) National Certification Examination.
