DESCRIPTION

Provides students with classroom and laboratory experience in electricity, mechanical power, and fluid power systems.  Focuses on those skills used in entertainment/theatre industry and similar industries.  Academic courses emphasizing relevant math, science, and human relations are stressed to prepare students to meet the challenges common in the entertainment, theatre, and similar industries.  The effective combination of theoretical courses and hands-on experience gained through Co-Op enhances the student’s ability to secure employment as well as future professional growth in the entertainment and similar industries.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Design, assemble, and operate different fluid power systems and perform basic system calculations.
  2. Demonstrate key skills required of an entertainment technician.
  3. Set-up, upgrade, and troubleshoot the equipment used in the entertainment environment.
  4. Develop teamwork and managerial skills during the design and operation of various mechanical power transmission systems.

General Education Requirements (27 Credits)

Strongly Recommended: MUS 231 (the co-requisite for this course is listed in the electives).
