ADMITTANCE INFORMATION

Admittance into the Bachelor of Applied Science requires completion of the CSN AAS Environmental Management degree or program director approval.


DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Management degree program provides students with a flexible, relevant and current curriculum that includes opportunities for students to demonstrate a depth and breadth of knowledge in environmental theory, technology with experiential knowledge necessary to function as an environmental technician.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Summarize federal, state, local, and tribal policies driving natural resource policies.
  2. Recall landscape ecology principles and technology to analyze ecological scenarios.
  3. Recommend environmental techniques to develop management scenarios for working environmental specialists.
  4. Analyze biological, chemical, geological and environmental science data to inform and make management decisions regarding environmental issues.
  5. Categorize natural resource decision-making utilizing effective communication techniques.
  6. Select Best Management Practices (BMP) and scientific strategies for managing natural resources.
  7. Prepare management action plans.
  8. Show leadership skills within the environmental management and natural resource fields.

Mathematics (6 Credits)


REQUIRED: Your first college-level MATH course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

English Composition (3-5 Credits)


REQUIRED: Your first college-level ENG course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Elective (2-4 Credits)


Students who complete CEE 121 (2 credits) or GEOL 220 (4 credits) DO NOT need to complete the Digital Literacy Elective.  Students who wish to complete GIS 109 MUST complete the Digital Literacy Elective as it is the prerequisite to GIS 109.

Digital Literacy Elective (0-3 Credits)


Students only need to complete this elective if they wish to complete GIS 109 to satisfy the elective requirement (2-4 credits) above. The Digital Literacy Elective is the prerequisite for admittance into GIS 109. 

Upper Division Electives (6 Credits)


Either repeat BIOL, ENV, or GEOL.  If a student chooses CHEM, they must complete both CHEM courses listed (not repeat one or the other).
