MTT 106 - Machine Shop Practice I Credits: 2 Description Expands the student’s manual skills by putting into practice the theories, and user skills introduced in MTT 105. The emphasis will be geared to a more practical, hands-on experience through the use of lathes, layout techniques, vertical and horizontal bandsaws, measuring instruments and some vertical mill work. Shop safety and cleanup are always stressed.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate accurate and precise use of standard and precision measuring instruments for part inspection.
- Properly and safely set tool and work offsets.
- Set-up operate and program CNC lathe using proper G-Code.
- Sharpen or replace various cutting tools and inserted tooling.
- Determine if speeds and, or feeds need to be recalculated or adjusted to obtain optimum tool life and part quality.
Prerequisite: None Corequisite: MTT 105 Graded: Pass/Fail
