MTT 106 - Machine Shop Practice I

Description
Expands the student’s manual skills by putting into practice the theories, and user skills introduced in MTT 105. The emphasis will be geared to a more practical, hands-on experience through the use of lathes, layout techniques, vertical and horizontal bandsaws, measuring instruments and some vertical mill work. Shop safety and cleanup are always stressed.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate accurate and precise use of standard and precision measuring instruments for part inspection.
  2. Properly and safely set tool and work offsets.
  3. Set-up operate and program CNC lathe using proper G-Code.
  4. Sharpen or replace various cutting tools and inserted tooling.
  5. Determine if speeds and, or feeds need to be recalculated or adjusted to obtain optimum tool life and part quality.

Corequisite: MTT 105 
Graded: Pass/Fail
