MTT 111 - Machine Shop Practice II

Description
Further develops student’s manual skills by putting into practice the theories and user skills introduced MTT 110. The emphasis will be a more practical, hands-on experience through the use of vertical mill work, layout techniques, vertical and horizontal band saws, measuring instruments and some lathes. Shop safety and cleanup are always stressed.

Student Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate accurate and precise use of standard and precision measuring instruments for part inspection.
  2. Properly and safely set tool and work offsets.
  3. Set-up operate and program CNC mill using proper G-Code.
  4. Sharpen or replace various cutting tools and inserted tooling.
  5. Determine if speeds and, or feeds need to be recalculated or adjusted to obtain optimum tool life and part quality.
