DH 412 - Dental Public Health Administration Credits: 2 Description Foundational concepts of leadership skills as applied to oral health programs, program management, legal, financial and ethical considerations. Communication with the grant writing process is presented.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Analyze the six roles of the dental hygienist to explore various practice settings for each role.
- Self-assess various styles and levels of leadership appropriate for different practice situations to utilize appropriate communication skills for various scenarios including conflict negotiation.
- Develop action plans based on the three core public health functions: assessment, policy development, and assurance.
- Evaluate the ethics of rules and regulations to write an appropriate proposal for changing current rules and regulations.
- Design a public health program to include: a grant proposal, policies and procedure manual and formulation of a marketing and promotion campaign.
Prerequisite: DH 402 and DH 404 ; and Admission to Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science Degree Program
