CIT 260 - Systems Analysis and Design Credits: 3 Semesters Offered: Fall, Spring Campus/Sites Offered: Charleston, Online Offering Note: No additional information available.
Description An examination of systems and their elements and processes. Includes techniques used by systems analysts to determine user requirements and the translation of user requirements into design specifications. Students should have programming experience. Besides the course prerequisite listed below, it is recommended students also complete a course in Project Management such as CIT 263 .
Student Learning Outcomes
- Explain each of the phases of the traditional systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Identify Agile development methodologies and list the benefits and drawbacks.
- Describe the role and responsibilities of the systems analyst and other stakeholders in the development and management of computer systems.
- Explain the importance of a formalized approach to the analysis, design, and implementation of computer information systems.
- Create documentation to include requirements, data flow diagrams, entity diagrams, decision trees, and project plans using software tools.
Prerequisite: ENG 100 , ENG 101 , ENG 110 , or ENG 113 ; and CIT 129 or any other programming courses (courses include: CIT 130 , CIT 131 , CIT 134 , CIT 148 , CIT 230 , CIT 231 , CIT 234 , CIT 248 , CS 135 , and CS 202 ). Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
