AUTO 105B - Introduction to Automotive Service


Credits: 2
Description
An introduction to the automotive service industry.  Students will learn job interview, resume writing, and workplace soft skills.  Topics include automotive shop safety, pollution prevention, hazardous waste handling, and usage of internet-based service information.  Students will learn basic operation of the major automotive systems, proper tool and equipment usage, and perform basic maintenance, safety inspection and service procedures, and learn about the ASE certification process.


Note: This course is a prerequisite for all automotive service courses.

  1. Demonstrate shop and personal safety.
  2. Demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment.
  3. Prepare vehicle for service.
  4. Perform basic vehicle inspection and service.
