AUTO 145B - Automotive Brakes Credits: 4 Description Covers the theory of operation, diagnosis, and service of drum, disc, and anti-lock brake systems used on modern vehicles. Safe and correct hands-on practice is emphasized. Prepares students for the ASE A5 (Brakes) certification exam.
Student Learning Outcomes 1. Identify brake system components and configurations.
2. Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
3. Diagnose and replace power assist units.
4. Inspect, diagnose, and replace disc and drum brake components.
5. Inspect, diagnose, and repair related systems (wheel bearings, parking brakes, brake lamps, and brake warning system).
6. Diagnose and repair electronic brake control systems including Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), and Electronic Suspension Control (ESC). Prerequisite: AUTO 115B Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
