DESCRIPTION
Prepares students to install, maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair residential heating and cooling systems.  Students will have an in depth look at sheet-metal fabrication, fiberglass and flexible ductwork. Prepare students to install refrigeration tubing and brazed connections to dissimilar metals. Students will earn certifications necessary for entry level employment such as EPA 608 and OSHA 10.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Incorporate workforce safety principals while performing basic tasks of a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) technician.
  2. Interpret electrical/mechanical schematics on HVAC/R equipment to diagnose mechanical or electrical problems in a residential or light commercial environment.
  3. Appraise EPA rules, regulations and refrigerant handling techniques in the performance of HVAC/Rduties.
  4. Diagnose and repair electrical or mechanical problems on residential air conditioning equipment; light commercial air conditioning equipment.
