DESCRIPTION
The Associate of Arts Degree with an English Emphasis helps students develop and apply critical thinking, analytical writing, and communication skills. Students who complete these degree requirements will be prepared to transfer to a four-year institution.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Address purpose, audience, and rhetorical situation.
  2. Produce writing that demonstrates academic reading skills.

General Education Requirements


TOTAL GENERAL EDUCATION CREDITS: 33


300-level and above courses cannot be used to satisfy GE requirements.
Courses with a B suffix (i.e. 100B) cannot be used to satisfy general education or degree requirements for Associate of Arts, Associate of Business, and Associate of Science degrees. B suffix courses may not be transferable within NSHE.

Mathematics (3 Credits)


NOTE: Your first college-level MATH course MUST be completed before reaching 30 total college-level credits.

Natural Science (7 Credits)


Seven credits of coursework to include at least one laboratory experience.

Humanities (7 Credits)


  • and  World Languages 111 or above (includes the following course prefixes: ARA, ARM, CHI, FIL, FREN, GER, ITAL, JPN, KOR, LAT, PORT, RUS, SPAN, and THAI)

U.S. and Nevada Constitutions (4 Credits)
