DESCRIPTION
The Healthcare Documentation Specialist Program prepares students to become a healthcare documentation specialist.  The program provides the basic knowledge, skills and understanding to transcribe clinical dictation and prepare patient documents with accuracy, clarity, consistency and timeliness while applying the professional and ethical conduct practices.

Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Demonstrate entry level competencies in medical transcription as published by American Association for Medical Transcription.
  2. Demonstrate skills and abilities necessary to find employment in the field.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and entry level competencies needed to gain employment as a medical transcriptionist.
