SPAN 112 - First Year Spanish II Credits: 4 Description This is the second semester of first-year Spanish concentrating on the development of language skills in the present and simple past tenses (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and cultural understanding. Emphasis on basic communication.
Student Learning Outcomes Fall 2025:
- Engage in Spanish conversations in the present and past tenses.
- Write in the present and past tenses.
- Recognize texts in the present and past tenses.
- Identify elements of Hispanic culture: history, arts, geography, and appropriate social interactions.
Spring 2026:
- Practice Spanish conversations at the novice high level using the present, preterit, and imperfect tenses
- Compose texts at the novice high level using the present, preterit, and imperfect tenses.
- Comprehend texts at the novice high level in the present, preterit, and imperfect tenses.
- Identify key aspects of culture in the Spanish-speaking world, including history, the arts, traditions, and everyday interactions.
Prerequisite: Fall 2025: SPAN 111 | Spring 2026: SPAN 111 or Placement Test Corequisite: None Graded: Letter Grade
